Committee demands extension of protection of Iraqi assets period

Baghdad (NINA) – Ministerial committee specialized in protection of Iraqi assets decided to recommend the Cabinet to submit an official request through the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the American administration to issue an American presidential decree that provides protection to the Iraqi assets for another year, starting next May 20.
A statement issued by the media office of Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the committee, Rowsch Nouri Shaways, said “the committee discussed today procedures and steps needed to be continued to protect the Iraqi assets abroad, especially as the protection period provided by the American presidential decree is about to expire.”
Present at the meeting were ministers of; finance, oil, justice, and chairman of the supreme audit board, central bank governor, and undersecretaries of planning and foreign ministries, in addition to legal advisor of the Prime Minister and advisor of the Deputy Prime Minister. /End/
