Baghdad (AIN) –The All Iraq News Agency received a report from the meeting of the Arab League from Cairo saying that “The argument is heated inside the meeting hall of the Arab League Council of Foreign Ministers after the rejection of the Iraqi delegation for a proposal submitted by the Qatari delegation and was supported by the Saudi delegation to add an item on the agenda of the meeting over boycotting Syria.”
A source from inside the meeting hall reported to AIN “The Qatari delegation submitted a proposal to add an item on the agenda of the meeting over boycotting Syria but Iraq rejected this request and demanded to lift this item.”
“Algeria, Sudan and Oman supported the Iraqi stance and rejected to boycott Syria which started an heated argument between these countries from one side and Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the other side,” the source added.
The source mentioned that “The Algerian Foreign Minister denounced the Qatari exaggeration in enmity towards Syria and this call to boycott it,” wondering if Qatar wishes to “take the Arab citizens out of Syria.”
“Due to insistence of the Iraqi delegation and the countries that supported its stance, the Arab League decided to lift this item from its agenda,” the source stressed.
The Arab League Council of Foreign Ministers has held an exceptional meeting in Cairo to discuss the latest developments in Sudan and Syria. /End/
