BAGHDAD, June 18 (AKnews) - Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki will attend the meeting of the Council of Representatives to be interrogated if constitutional mechanisms are available, said the PM’s information office, adding that the session must be public to allow the Iraqi people to know the facts.
Adviser Mariam al-Rayyes said: "PM Maliki has the right to appeal the reasons for interrogating him where the charges against him must be identified and he cannot be interrogated according to the desire of the political parties."
Iraqiya, the Sadrists and the Kurdish Blocs Coalition (KBC) are seeking to withdraw confidence from Maliki. The parties of the National Alliance (NA) refuse to withdraw confidence from the government and support the option of dialogue according to the initiative of President Jalal Talabani.
