Maliki, Salih agree to adopt constitution for settling disputes

Baghdad (AIN) –The Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki and the Deputy Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Barham Salih agreed that “The constitution is the base for settling the disputes and crisis in Iraq.”
A statement by the PUK received by AIN cited Monday “Barham Salih has arrived in Baghdad on Sunday in a special visit and met with the PM Nouri al-Maliki.”
“Both sides discussed the current political disputes in Iraq and stressed that the constitution is the base for treating these disputes,” the statement added, noting that “They also discussed necessity to start meetings among the political sides in Iraq as soon as the Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani, returns to Iraq.”
The statement mentioned that “The meeting also discussed the Reforms Document as well as the political changes in the Region.”
“Within the course of his visit to Baghdad, Salih also met with several political leaders and representatives of Iraqi political parties and discussed with them the Iraqi political scene and means of treating pending issues,” the statement concluded. /End/
