Energy Commission confirms that the government is obliged to privatize electricity and government adviser calls for tax relief

A member of the Commission on oil and energy parliamentary Uday Awad, the government is obliged to implement decision to privatize the electricity sector, which voted on by the House of Representatives earlier, stressing that the government has no plans to develop this sector. Awad said the Agency (UR) that «the resolution voted by the House of Representatives to grant the Ministry of Electricity right investment electric power was not applied until now, although it is a binding decision of the government. Awad said that «the government does not have ambitious plans to promote investment and existing plans are outdated and did not contribute to overcome the suffering in the lack of production of electric energy. On the other hand looked GCT of the Ministry of Finance with the Iraqi National Business Council reforming the tax system of settling accounts in Iraq. The adviser said the Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdullah Hussein Al-Anbuge in the Economic Forum panel discussion open and private system settling accounts taxation in Iraq and held yesterday in the presence of Director General of Taxation Kazim Ali Abdullah and Prime Iraqi National Business Council Ibrahim Baghdadi said «tax evasion in Iraq represents courage and heroism in the minds of some, while it is a scandal in the developed countries. And demanded passage of a tax amnesty law for Iraqi investors like the general amnesty law for the purpose of gaining the confidence of the private sector in addition to the tax holiday of two to three years to take the tax administration upon themselves to build an integrated tax system. For his part, announced Director General of Taxation adopt a system for electronic program for modernizing the tax work, stressing that tax ceiling is low in Iraq is up to 15% of the net profits of the taxpayer. For his part President of the National Business Council Hashim Baghdadi need to form a higher economic committee in the Council of Ministers chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Ruz Nuri Shawis concerned with the affairs of the private sector and follow-up problems.
