Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Activities of the 3rd Arab and South American countries Summit were concluded on the 2nd of October in the Peruvian capital, Lima, which was present by 10 presidents from South America and 3 presidents from Arab states and with the participation of ministers and representatives from all Arab and South American countries.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry received by IraqiNews.com on Wednesday cited ” The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zibari delivered, during the opening session, the statement of the Arab Summit where all leaders of states and delegations spoke during the summit about the development of political, economic, and cultural cooperation prospects between the two regions and groups, which constitute about 770 million people.”
“At the conclusion of the summit activities, Zebari, as Iraq chairs the Arab Summit, recited the closing statement on behalf of the Arab Group presenting the results of the Summit and its success in adopting the Lima Declaration and the agreement between the two groups on a set of steps and measures to strengthen the bilateral relations. On the sidelines of the summit, the Third Conference of the Arab and South American Countries Businessmen was held. The conference discussed four issues including deepening ties in all fields between the two regions on renewable energy, food security, ways to provide food, and issues of resources in all their forms,” the statement added.
The statement pointed out “Zibari assured that the Investment opportunities between the two parties and signing of several contracts between Arab and South American businessmen and companies were discussed. Finally, I renew, on behalf of the Arab Group, thanks to the Government and people of Peru for the warm reception and organizing.”
“A delegation from the Foreign Ministry consisting the Permanent Representative to the Arab League Dr. Qais Al Azzawi, Head of America Department Ambassador Muwaffaq Mahdi Abboud, and diplomats from the Ministry participated in the meetings of experts and preparations,” the statement concluded.
