Baghdad (AIN) –The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, officially invited the Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, to visit Iraq.
Russian News Agency mentioned that "Maliki invited medvedev to visit Baghdad," stressing that "Such visit will consolidate the bilateral relations strongly."
"Maliki confirmed Iraq's adherence to upgrade relations with Iraq assuring that his visit to Russia represents a good chance to follow up the former agreements," the statement added.
"The delegation accompanied Maliki involves the representatives of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Trade and Oil Ministries, the fields that Iraq seeks to develop its cooperation with Russia in," the statement mentioned.
"Maliki stressed the necessity of consolidating Russian and Iraqi relations through the suitable mechanisms by the Ministerial Joint Committee," the statement continued.
"For his part, medvedev confirmed Russia's adherence to develop relations with Iraq," the statement concluded.
