BASRA / Aswat al-Iraq: Director, Office of the U.S. consulate in Basra, on Friday, the U.S. Consul General, Ms. Piper Campbell and signed, on Thursday, on behalf of the agency U.S. Trade and Development, signed an agreement with the South Refineries Company, to grant the company a grant of 502 000 dollars for a study of executive for the rehabilitation of the Basrah Refinery. The Brent Meyer, in a statement the U.S. Embassy has received Agency (Voices of Iraq) a copy of it, that "the U.S. Consul General Piper Campbell signed on behalf of the United States Agency for Trade and Development, signed an agreement with the Director-General of the South Refineries Company Abdul Hussein Nasser Al-Qasim, demanding the hand the company a grant of 502 000 dollars for the development of a major refinery in Basra, where it will help the grant in the overall assessment of the refinery and determine engineering requirements, the provision of equipment and construction efforts necessary for the development of the refinery. " Meyer said, "This development will give the country the opportunity to realize the economic benefit of the largest oil reserves in, and support the Iraqi Oil Ministry for the purpose of access to the capacity to produce 12 million barrels per day by 2020. " He said, "Consul confirmed the the establishment of a lasting partnership, based on the mutual desire for friendship and cooperation with Iraq, and on a wide range of common interests. " He pointed out that "the agreement was under the strategic framework agreement, and this includes a commitment to help encourage the development of the Iraqi oil sector and the rehabilitation of vital facilities." and went on to "This grant is agreed to represent an important first step in the development of a refinery in Basra, and provides a concrete example of the role of the U.S. Consulate General in helping Basra to identify each of the partnerships between the public and private sectors to ensure the economic future of Besraoyen and all Iraqi citizens," noting that the study of the Executive for the rehabilitation of refinery "will be over the next year, and work on the preparation of 20 training program collaborative another and exchange programs supported by the U.S. Agency for Trade and development in various sectors of economic development in Iraq since 2004.
