Maliki receives phone call from Biden on American forces’ withdrawal

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki, received on Wednesday evening, July 27, a phone call from US Vice President, Joe Biden, in which the two exchanged points of view over latest political developments and issues related to the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq by the end of current year in accordance with the agreement in this regards concluded between both countries.
During the call, Maliki asserted to Biden that Iraq’s Parliament is who decide on whether or not the country is in need to keep American forces in Iraq and that political leaders might decide on this issue in their upcoming meeting.
For his part, Biden renewed the United States support to Iraq and its standing by the Iraqi government in facing various domestic and foreign challenges, stressing on the continuing strategic cooperation between both countries.
