Iraq agrees to import natural gas from Iran

(AIN) –Iraqi agreed with Iran to import natural gas to be used in operating the Iraqi electricity power generating stations.
The Iranian Mahr News Agency quoted the assistant of the Iranian Minister of Oil, Jawad Uchi, as saying ''The agreement has been signed by the Iranian Company for Oil and the Iraqi Ministry of Energy," noting that "According to the agreement, Iran will export about 25 million cubic meters of gas to Iraq.''
''In case the two countries reached a final form of agreement, it will be implemented on next summer and Iran will export about 25 million cubic meters of natural gas to equip Baghdad and Mansur electricity stations through Elam border area,'' the statement added.
The Iranian News Agency quoted the Director of Planning in the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, Sadeq al-Yaseri, as saying ''The cost of the project will reach USD (450) million which enables Iraq to import about 25 million cubic meters of natural gas daily.'' \ End\
