Maliki confirms Kerry's support for the adoption of dialogue and the Constitution to resolve problems

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki during a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's support for the adoption of dialogue and the Constitution as the basis to resolve all internal problems, indicating a significant correlation between the problems afflicting the region.
A statement issued by the Information Office of the Prime Minister said Sunday that "al-Maliki met with Kerry and discuss the development of relations and increased cooperation in the light of the strategic framework agreement signed by the two countries."
He continued, "During the meeting, they discussed in depth the issues of the region and the Syrian crisis and efforts to combat terrorism."
The statement quoted Maliki as saying that "Iraq is seeking to establish better relations with the United States and activating the strategic framework agreement in all areas."
And confirmed its support "for the adoption of dialogue and the Constitution as the basis to resolve all internal problems," noting "a significant correlation between the problems of the region."
Maliki said that "any country can not isolate themselves from what is happening around them as a result of overlapping problems of the region and their mutual impacts."
For his part, U.S. Secretary of State on "the importance of the development of bilateral relations and his country's interest in the Iraqi government's point of view towards the issues of the region and the Syrian crisis in particular."
The statement said that "The views were converging on the need to find a political solution to the situation in Syria to spare its people more tragedies, the two sides also expressed their concern of the evolution of the events there, and the need to work to encircle."
He noted that "Kerry reiterated U.S. support for Iraq's efforts to combat terrorism and strengthen its capacity to enable it to achieve this."
Kerry arrived today to the capital Baghdad to meet a number of Iraqi government officials
