The Ministry of Planning in a first step of its kind in Iraq to implement the idea of a population giant clock that would rise above the ministry building, toward the bridge of Al-Jumhuriya and Al-Tahrir Square in central Baghdad. The Minister of Planning, prof. Ali Yousef Shukri, accompanied with the Administrative Deputy, Dr. Mahdi Al-Alaq, steps on the implementation of the project. The team met engineering and technical work which is implementing the project and listened to a detailed explanation of steps of implementation and mechanisms used and the stages of completion.
In a press statement, the Minister stressed that Iraq, specifically the Ministry of Planning, was the forerunner to keep pace with scientific development. The idea of introducing population clock that serves Iraq directly. Indicating that time working to add every child will be born to the population of Iraq and then determine the time which he was born. Pointing out that the implementation of this time is the first step in the introduction of counting and inventory to determine the population of Iraq. Adding that this idea, which was adopted by the Central will be one of the landmarks in the city of Baghdad and will mainstream this experience all Iraqi provinces.
