Baghdad (NINA) – Lawmaker from the State of Law Alliance, Salmand al-Mosawi, said that the State of Law Alliance intends to nominate Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki for a third term.
In a statement on Saturday, May 11, to NINA, Mosawi said, "Up till today, there is no reason prevents us from nominating Maliki for a third term." He described demands to replace him as being out of the Constitutional norms, and being mere media bubbles.
Mosawi added, "The National Alliance's choices are still open, our basic standards are the country's interests, not possessing power."
He pointed out that some political forces have lost their public because of the contradicting policies they have adopted, as well as following foreign agendas.
It is noteworthy that protestors in the six uprising provinces demanded the National Alliance to remove and replace Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
Earlier, Parliament has voted to limit terms of the President, Speaker of Parliament and Prime Minister to only two terms. / End
