Zebari: Iraq came out of Chapter VII practically
Shafaq News / Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari announced on Thursday, that Iraq is practically out of Chapter VII, stressing that nothing remained but settlement of some decisions concerning Kuwait.
“The Iraqi government promised the people to work to let Iraq out of the provisions of Chapter VII as everyone knows that the decisions of this chapter affected all life joints in the country,” describing “These decisions are the most to be applied on a country and was exposed to sanctions,” Zebari said in a press conference held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building and attended by “Shafaq News”.
“Iraq is practically out of Chapter VII and one subject remained which is resolutions that control Iraq and its relationship with Kuwait”.
The Foreign Minister pointed out that “what have remained of this chapter is the relationship with Kuwait that can be separated on two files; one on the humanitarian file regarding the fate of Kuwaiti prisoners, and the second is the Kuwaiti archives”.
“We have confirmed to Kuwait and all organizations that we do not have any interest in concealing any remains of killed Kuwaiti prisoners, or keeping the Kuwaiti archives,” noting that “Iraq will emerge permanently from Chapter VII after the settlement of Archives and missing Kuwaitis issues,” Zebari added
It is noteworthy that Chapter VII consists of 13 items, as resolution 678 issued in 1990 calling for forcing Iraq to go out from Kuwait is of the provisions of this chapter, Iraq is still under its consequences because of several pending issues such as the remains of Kuwaiti citizens and prisoners of war in Iraq and Kuwaiti property.
