BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Leader of al-Iraqiya Bloc, Talal al-Zubae, has said on Saturday that the current Culture Minister in the Iraqi Cabinet was the most likely candidate to occupy the vacant Defense Minister’s post, confirming that 70 percent of al-Iraqiya, the Kurdistan Alliance and the National Alliance's Legislatures support Zubae’s nomination for the post.
“Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had rejected the 4 al-Iraqiya candidates for the Defense Minister’s post, and I see that signs are pointing out to Saadoun al-Duleimy as being the most accepted candidates inside al-Iraqiya Bloc.
70 percent of al-Iraqiya Legislatures, as well as the Kurdistan Alliance and the National Alliance support Duleimy’s nomination to occupy the Defense Minister’s post,” Zubae told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“Saadoun al-Duleimy is a vocational personality, who had worked in the Defense Ministry and his administration had been successful, and we must keep away from secessionism in al-Iraqiya Bloc, through nominating him for the Defense Minister’s post,” he said.
The Iraqi Parliament had granted trust on Dec.
21st last year for a non-complete Cabinet, where the Interior, Defense and National Security Cabinet posts were being steered by Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, on an “acting” basis.
