Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid, Wednesday, to Baghdad in several days of talks with Iraqi officials to promote bilateral relations, especially economic.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued Wednesday evening and received (range), a copy of it, "Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met Sunday evening in Baghdad international airport, the Indian counterpart Salman Khursheed and his Entourage", stating that "Khurshid arrived for an official visit during which he will meet Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and top Iraqi officials.
The Ministry said that "the visit is aimed at strengthening the historical relations between the two friendly countries."
The Indian Government had declared, in (17 June 2013) that its Foreign Minister would visit Iraq next Wednesday (19/6/2013) and indicated that his visit came at the invitation of the official is the first high-ranking Indian official to Iraq since 1990.
As Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussein Al-Shahristani on (17 June 2013) that the Indian delegation is expected to visit Iraq will negotiate to increase Iraq's oil exports to India, and stressed that Iraq is ready for understanding on Indian demand.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry, said in a statement posted on the Web site that the Undersecretary of bilateral relations Nizar Khairallah met with the Indian Ambassador in Baghdad Suresh Reddy and discussed arrangements for the upcoming visit of the Indian Foreign Minister to Baghdad and met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, Parliament Speaker Osama Al-nujaifi as well to invite the Prime Minister to visit India and the signing of a memorandum of understanding, also discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop them at all levels and to facilitate business entry process Indians to Iraq to stimulate trade and investment in Iraq.
