Kurdistan announces 14 July as an official holiday in the region

altaltShafaq News / Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced on Thursday, July 14 as an official holiday on the occasion of the revolution that overthrew the kingdom in Iraq, led by the late leader , Abdul Karim Qassem.
“KRG announces Sunday, the 14th of July as a holiday in all government departments and institutions on the occasion of the fourteenth revolution of July,” A statement of the governments’ spokesman, Safin Dizi told “Shafaq News”.
It is worth mentioning that a group of Iraqi army officers led by leader, Abdul Karim Qassem has overthrow on the fourteenth of July in 1958 the monarchy system that ruled Iraq since the founding of the Iraqi state in 1921, as revolution was supported by broad public that included various segments of Iraqi society and made a number of reforms including the interim constitution, which stipulated for the first time that the Arabs and Kurds in Iraq are partners.
