Shafaq News / Presidency of Kurdistan Parliament revealed on Thursday, that the regional president, Massoud Barzani approved a law to extend the current election cycle of Kurdistan Parliament for two months
, leaving the door open to extend his mandate indefinitely.
“A number of laws have arrived at the parliament on Thursday and was certified by the regional president, Massoud Barzani,” The media adviser to Parliament Speaker ,Tariq Jawhar told “Shafaq News”.
“Among those laws that the Parliament had ratified by the end of last June, is the law of extending the current election cycle to Kurdistan Parliament for two months."
“The law of the right to access information, the law of investigators privileges of the Federal Court , the Law of accounting the Federal University Service in Kurdistan province , the law of participants in the Kurdish liberation movement not being responsible in terms of sanctions”.
He pointed out that “the decision to approve the treaty and joint development between the public authorities and non-governmental organizations in Kurdistan region was one of the approved laws."
The bill of extending the work of the parliament for two months and the Presidency of the region for two years that were approved by parliament in 30 of last June has raised a big debate among the opposition blocs and the masses of power in the region, while the first demanded the regional president, Massoud Barzani not to ratify them and return them back to parliament.
