BAGHDAD / NINA / The MP of the Iraqiya coalition, Khalid Abdullah al-Alwani called on the House of Representatives to enact a law prohibiting putting pictures of foreign dignitaries in the capital Baghdad, "noting:" Iraq has great leaders, thinkers and scientists. "
Alwani, in a press statement said: "Mulla's claim to lift pictures of Khomeini and some Iranian leaders is legal and commensurate with the sovereignty of the State, there is no need for some lawmakers' reaction," wondering: "how long Iraq remains a follower of some regional countries."
He added: "What happened yesterday in the parliament's session, due to pictures of Khomeini and Khamenei, would have not happened if all sides dealt calmly and deliberately with it," pointing: "If every faith or doctrine raises photos of his intellectuals and scientists, that will lead to spread tension in the street, and then a strife between the components of the people and that what we fear form. "
The House of Representatives postponed its yesterday's session to next Tuesday, after a fistfight happened in the parliament's session yesterday between the National Alliance MP Kadhem al-Sayyadi and the Iraqiya MP Haidar al-Mulla, who demanded to lift pictures of Khomeini and Khamenei from the streets of Baghdad.
The National Alliance strongly protested Mullah's demand and walked out from the meeting. Then President of NA Ibrahim al-Jaafari held a press conference in which he called on Mullah: "to apologize for all Muslims because his offense to religious symbols."
Iraqiya coalition joined Haidar al-Mulla in his call to remove the pictures of foreign leaders immediately and prevent any pictures of non-Iraqi to be raised in Baghdad. / End
