KRG PM Opens Online Jobs Portal
Posted on 07 September 2013
Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani (pictured) has opened the Kurdistan Careers job fair and launched Kurdistan Works, an employment and training information website provided by the Kurdistan Regional Government to promote recruitment to the private sector.
Mr Barzani said:
“Today I believe we take a modest step, a simple step, but a necessary step. This job fair is a clear indication of the strength of the private sector in Kurdistan, and the Kurdistan Works website will serve as a bridge to connect our talented, capable, and eager workforce with the foreign and local companies that drive our economy.“
Kurdistan Works, kw.krg.org, is a job portal that aggregates private sector jobs throughout the Kurdistan Region, also providing information for companies and job-seekers regarding training, employment laws, and related subjects.
Following the Prime Minister’s speech, Minister Qubad Talabani, Head of the Department of Coordination and Follow-up, chaired a discussion panel focusing on the importance of a strong private sector and capacity-building for Kurdistan’s youth. The Prime Minister then opened the fair, visiting the booths of various companies and speaking with young job-seekers. Facilitating private sector employment is a KRG priority.
The Prime Minister said:
“Today I urge all companies operating in the Kurdistan Region to announce vacancies in a public and transparent manner…and, most importantly, I urge graduates and job seekers to take advantages of this career fair and this website … The KRG will spare no effort in establishing the groundwork for a strong, successful, inclusive economy, ensuring that we can all move forward together.“
A number of KRG ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, and leaders of Kurdistan’s business community attended the launch.
