Kirkuk (NINA) – Source at North Oil Company, in Kirkuk, announced that pumping crude oil from Kirkuk fields to the Turkish Jihan port has stopped because the pipeline blown in Niniveh province.
In a statement to NINA on Friday, Sep. 27, the source said that Iraq oil exports from Kirkuk field to the Turkish port of Jihan has stopped on Friday afternoon because the pipeline is been subjected to explosion in Zamar district, 40 km north of Mosul.
He added that the blast caused minor damage to the pipeline, resulted in oil leak and fire.
He added that work underway to divert oil export through a second pipeline until the first one is repaired.
Earlier in the day, gunmen blew the pipeline carrying crude oil from Kirkuk field to Jihan port in Turkey. Police found burned bodies of two gunmen near the blast area. / End.
