Baghdad, August 11 (AKnews) – Iran will aid Iraq in the development of a peaceful nuclear program, according to a memorandum of understanding signed today.
The Iraqi technology minister Ayad Samarrie signed the document with the Iranian ambassador Hasan Danayi today in Baghdad. The agreement sets the ground for the joint development of research centres.
Samarrayi told reporters: "Iraq has begun talks over the possibility of investing in peaceful nuclear power.
“We have had talks with the Iranian ambassador about the possibility of Iraq stating to seriously invest in it, particularly since there is a resolution by the Iraqi Council of Ministers to rehabilitate the Iraqi Nuclear Energy Commission.
"Iraq, like any other country has the right to use all peaceful means to provide its own energy," the Iraqi minister said.
