Opportunities for Study, Travel in US

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has announced that it are now accepting applications for the U.S. Government-sponsored Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Programs (IYLEP).
This program will provide 250 Iraqi high school and undergraduate students a unique educational exchange experience in the United States during the summer of 2014.
Since their creation in 2007, the IYLEP undergraduate and high school programs have provided invaluable leadership and educational opportunities for more than 1200 students.
These programs directly support the goals of the U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen connections between the people of the United States and Iraq, and have created a cadre of young Iraqi leaders who continue to positively impact their communities.
IYLEP – Undergraduate Program
The IYLEP undergraduate program is a four-week leadership exchange program for students in their first, second, and third years of university. To apply for the undergraduate program, visit [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
IYLEP – High School Program
The IYLEP high school program is also a four-week youth exchange program intended for Iraqi teenagers, ages 15-17, and Iraqi adult mentors. To apply for the high school program, visit [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

There is no cost to apply to IYLEP. The U.S. Department of State will fully fund students’ academic study, travel, health insurance, housing, and provide a modest living allowance while in the United States. The application deadline is December 1, 2013.
