BAGHDAD / obelisk was inaugurated by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, on Wednesday, the branch president of the British Standard Chartered Bank in Baghdad.
Maliki said in a speech to the opening ceremony, and pursued "obelisk", "We stand today in front of a turning point in the economic field through international banks to enter Iraq, and we have a desire to advance the process of construction and reconstruction that require banking operations successful."
Maliki said that "the entry of international banks sends a message that Iraq is not isolated from the world, and represents an important step towards strengthening the interaction between international banks and Iraq," and expressed "delight to have such a partner bank of Iraq."
Maliki called "national banking institutions to benefit from the advanced experiences that can be provided by the bank and its branches, which will open later in Basra and Erbil."
Referred to the Iraqi Central Bank announced on Tuesday, September 3 last year, agreed in principle to the British Standard Chartered Bank opened a branch in Baghdad for the exercise of its banking business before a final this year.
