Iraq's Ambassador in Colombo, Sri Lankan FM stress need to promote relations

Baghdad (Forat) -Iraq's Ambassador in Colombo, Mr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf, met the Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister Professor Gamini Lakshman Peiris, at the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Alforat News Agency cited "During the meeting, the two sides stressed on the need to hold the eighth session of the Joint Committee in Baghdad next year, appreciating the friendly relations and the need to promote them."
"For his part, the Ambassador reaffirmed importance of signing a memorandum of understanding for bilateral cooperation during the coming visit of Sri Lankan Foreign Minister to Baghdad early next year," the statement concluded. /End/
