US Embassy Officials Talk Franchising

The Embassy’s Commercial and Economic Sections and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s CLDP (Commercial Law Development Program), in association with the National Investment Council (NIC), hosted a seminar on “Developing Franchise Opportunities in Iraq” on January 22. The program represents a joint initiative to expand US -Iraq business engagement through franchising.
The Iraqi Chamber of Commerce and 56 prominent Iraqi businessmen and women expressed interest in owning U.S. franchises in various sectors including garments, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and child care services.
The head of the NIC, Dr. Sami Al-Araji, the Embassy’s Senior Commercial Attaché, and other officials gave opening remarks regarding U.S. franchises and their positive impact on developing Iraq’s economy and youth employment. Afterwards, CLDP advisors taught a workshop explaining the nuts and bolts of franchising to participants.
