Iraq, February 17, 2014
The head of the Economic Studies, the economic expert, Raad Twayg confirmed that open branches to the Central Bank of Iraq in Arbil and Sulaymaniyah violates the law of the Central Bank and will reflect, negatively on monetary policy in Iraq.
He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that "establishing branches to the Central Bank of Iraq in Arbil and Sulaymaniyah, to contribute to more control and supervision on the implementation of monetary policy in Iraq is a violation to the law of the Central Bank of Iraq because the consolidated balance sheet of the Central Bank of Iraq is devoid of accounts branches.
He added that "the Law of the Central Bank is an independent body law and violating this law is a breach that confuses the monetary policy in Iraq."
He said: "developing the central bank is to open a branch in the Middle Euphrates region not in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah."
The central bank of Iraq opened in 2013 two branches in Arbil and Sulaymaniyah without thinking about allocation of a budget for the financial control of the monetary policy in Iraq.
