Baghdad (NINA) – The Iraqi Concurrence Movement (ICM), headed by former Prime Minister, Iyad allawi, accused the international community and custodian countries, who claim to support “Democracy in Iraq and the political system, of being responsible for political process’s failure and the deviating from its course by supporting re-establishing dictatorship.”
The Movement’s Spokesman, Hadi Wali, told NINA on Thursday, Aug. 18, “Once again, Maliki proves that he has no intention to realize full partnership and backing down from all of the 9-point agreements reached through Barazani’s initiative.”
He added that Maliki has also repudiated the statement issued by the recent meeting held under the auspices of President Jalal Talabani that asserted Iraqiya’s right to name its nominee for the post of Defence Minister and the State of Law to name its nominee for the post of Interior Minister.
But Maliki surprised all by charging a minister, who is not an Iraqiya nominee, to assume the post of Acting Defence Minister.
He stressed that, “Riding himself from all agreements reached reflects a dangerous tendency of single-handed policy that Maliki alone is to bear its consequences.”
Wali went on saying, “At the time we condemn such measures, The ICM accuses the international community and the countries claiming they support Iraq’s democracy of the political process’s failure and returning back to dictatorship. Maliki ought to known that he cannot rule Iraq by himself alone.”
He concluded that the ICM will not stand still and will resort to all political and legal means granted by the Constitution to stand up against the new single-handedness policy; and it consider the Commander in Chief responsible for security deterioration that threatens the Iraqis’ life.
