Revealed a government source familiar with the Council of Ministers decided on the liquidation of Iraqi Airways, financially and administratively, and offered for sale to private companies, unveiled an official at the airport in Baghdad that the four companies, civil submitted for the purchase of Iraqi Airways, one belonging to the son of a senior official in the Iraqi government.
The source said during a media statement: that the Council of Ministers decided to liquidate and the elimination of Iraqi Airways, offer for sale to a civil companies, pointing out that the Council of Ministers also will eliminate all the administrative structures associated with the company.
The source, who requested anonymity, said the decision came to end the problems faced by the aviation sector of Iraq as a result of prosecutions of Kuwait, which caused the inability of Iraq to buy new planes, indicating that the Council decided to rely on private companies in the process of air transport.
For his part, said an official at Baghdad International Airport earlier that there is a plan by the Iraqi government to sell assets and property of Iraqi Airways to one of the specialized private companies.
The source added that the plan include keeping staff current Iraqi Airways after the sale to a private company, noting that four companies have made to buy Iraqi Airways, one of them Al-Nasser air, and the other the son of a senior official in the Iraqi government without disclosing his name.
He was assistant director of Iraqi Airways, Nasser al-Amiri said the Sumerian News in the third month of May that there many proposals to abolish the State Company for Iraqi Airways and the establishment of another company in order to drop the file Kuwaiti reparations, he said, adding that the declaration of bankruptcy of the Iraqi Airways will be the Kuwaiti side Book of the private property of the company.
The Iraqi Airways manages and operates air transport in Iraq through a joint operation with other countries in the world because of the company owning the aircraft of their own.
It is noteworthy that Iraq is seeking to cancel the debts incurred during the period of the previous regime of Saddam Hussein, amounting to more than $ 120 billion, which is due to some compensation because of the wars waged on its neighbors, including the compensation of stealing and destroying ten aircraft Airport Kuwait Airways.
