Kut (NINA) – *****Chairman of the Wasit Provincial Council, Mahmoud Abdul Ridha, demanded Deputy Prime Minister for Energy, Hussein Al Shahristani, to resign for “failing in running the electricity file.”
In a press conference today “the council unveiled financial and admin corruption in the Ahdab oilfield which is supervised by the Ministry of Oil, especially in the mechanism of turning the contracts as they are not announced through the media.”*****
He explained “the first thing that Shahristani did after assuming the post of Acting Minister of Electricity was cancelling a contract with a Chinese company to provide the province with 300mw power station that uses natural gas from the Ahdab oilfield , as well as rejecting a proposal to provide the province with power from a station that could be installed in 6 months which produces 500mw.”
He pointed out that “the council could provide power to the province in 6 months and if it could not, then, I will resign and not run for a second term, providing that all ministries provide needed approvals.”
