Iran Expresses Regret over Regional Countries' Inaction towards Crude Price Fall
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif voiced displeasure in the recent approach adopted by certain regional countries that have preferred their short-time interests and refrained from cutting their oil output. "Unfortunately certain regional countries have no intention to cooperate (with Iran) to prevent oil price fall and its negative impacts on the involved nations' (economies)," Zarif said in a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim Abdullah al-Jabouri on Tuesday, but meantime, voiced Tehran's readiness to take serious and effective steps to change the situation. Zarif, meantime, hailed magnificent religious demonstration (Arbaeen ceremonies) in Iraq last week despite the threats posed by the terrorist groups to the safety of the pilgrims. He thanked the Iraqi government for providing security for one-and-a half million pilgrims of the holy sites in the country. Iran is ready to cooperate with Iraq in political, economic and parliamentary fields, Zarif said, noting, "We consider Iraq's progress and security as our own."
Al-Jabouri, for his part, underlined that all Iraqi tribes, including Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen and Sunni and Shiite Muslims enjoy enough solidarity to counter the ISIL.
On Tuesday, Iranian Government Spokesman Mohammad Baqer Nobakht underlined that the country is ready to defuse the possible impacts of the fall in crude prices over the Iranian economy, ensuring that the government can manage the country even with lower oil revenues.
"The oil market is a completely political and fluctuating market and the pressure exerted on us falls on those Arab states which increase production and give special discounts to lower the oil prices too, and they will also sustain losses as well," Nobakht added.
"They think that they can pressure Iran by continuing such conditions, but just the same way that we are now acting exactly on the basis of the budget planning despite the decreased (oil) prices in the current year, we will move on the same course in future as well," he added.
In relevant remarks on Saturday, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani warned that the decrease in oil prices in recent months is the result of a plot hatched by certain countries.
President Hassan Rouhani also stated last Wednesday that the sudden decrease in oil prices in recent months is a plot hatched by the enemies against the regional people and Muslims.
