Iraq on Wednesday signed a contract with Shell International to set up a huge petrochemical plant in Basra province.
The Minister of Industry and Minerals Naseer al-Issawi said during a press conference, "Royal Dutch Shell signed Atakkaka worth $ 11 billion with Iraq to build a petrochemical complex in Basra."
Issawi said that "complex [beacon] Petrochemical will make Iraq the largest producer of petrochemicals in the Middle East."
