Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, stressed the need to support the district of Balad and to give it a special attention, as it is one of the cities that have written the most amazing heroism stories in the fight against ISIS. His eminence indicated that the resistance of Balad has contributed to strengthening the national cohesion of the Iraqi people. He also highlighted his support to all the city’s demands, including the provision of care to its citizens who defend the country and answer the religious authority’s call. Furthermore, his eminence called to allocate a sum of money to renovate the shrine of Sayyid Mohammad (AS), since it receives millions of visits and needs renovation and expansion.
This came when his eminence was receiving a group of leaders and officials from the city of Balad at his office in Baghdad on Thursday, February 26, 2015.
The delegation assured that Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim manifested nothing but support and broad-mindedness and that his eminence has taken on himself to support the city and claim its financial rights from the budget, considering it is a resisting city. They also mentioned that the city needs its own university and should be turned, along with its neighboring districts of Samarra and Dujail, into one province, that in addition to the need to establish a court that is convenient to the size of the city and has judges from the district.
