Masum meets Mufti of Iraq and emphasizes the role of religious scholars in easing sectarian tensions

BAGHDAD / Nina / President Fuad Masum discussed on Friday with Iraq Mufti Sheikh Rafa’ al- Rifai the general situation of the country and the challenges and constraints affecting its future.
A statement by the Presidency of the Republic quoted Masum as emphasizing on “the role of religious scholars in easing the sectarian tensions and deliver the values of the Islamic religion in the call to brotherhood, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all, in order to reach the country to safety.”
For his part, Sheikh al-Rifai briefed Masum on the efforts of scientists and religious figures efforts to promote cohesion and achievement of national reconciliation .
