Iraq begins negotiations with Iran and Kuwait to resolve the joint exploitation of oil wells

BAGHDAD / Ali Jawad / Anatolia Iraq's oil minister said, Adel Abdul-Mahdi on Monday that his country's negotiations with the Iranian and Kuwaiti governments began to resolve the issue of exploitation of joint oil wells with the two countries, stressing the pursuit of his ministry to launch a licensing round of oil for a new increase of oil, and gas production in the country.
There are in Iraq's 24 oil fields shared with Iran, Kuwait, Syria, including 15 field producer and other untapped, and the most prominent of those fields are Safwan and Rumaila, Zubair with Kuwait (South), and crazy and Abu West and Bazargan and humorous and oil Khanh with Iran (North).
He said Abdul-Mahdi said in a statement the agency Anatolia received a copy of it today , that Iraq has begun negotiations with Iran and Kuwait on all matters relating to the common fields in order to promote joint action among neighboring countries, thus contributing to maximizing production and helps in the diversity of Iraq's oil production.
Iraq relies on oil imports to finance 95% of the budget, the country produces about 2.5 million barrels per day, with expectations to increase production to 4 million barrels a day, the Iraqi government relies on oil contracts to raise the country's output of crude to around 8 million barrels per day in the next few years
, said the Iraqi minister said his country is working in accordance with the three strategic plans to increase oil and gas production, is The first rounds of oil licensing intending to put it on the oil companies, and the second is based on the ministry's companies, which manages some of the oil wells, and the third element is the joint oil production development through cooperation with neighboring countries.
Abdul-Mahdi said that his ministry is seeking to invest patches exploratory (oil sites being scanned) put through a new licensing round in oil companies or relying on local companies.
and made Iraq's oil exports rose slightly last February to a record 2.597 million barrels per day, compared with 2,560 last January.
