Barzani signs on draft constitution of Kurdistan Referendum Law

Shafaq News / A statement by Kurdistan parliament said on Thursday that the region's president, Massoud Barzani has signed the preparation of a draft constitution of Kurdistan Referendum Law According to this law, Kurdistan parliament must form a committee within 30 days and the decisions of the committee to be in national consensus.
According to Article 4 of the law , this committee must to complete its tasks within 90 days and if they do not complete the tasks , the parliament has the right to extend it.
Article V of the law stated also that the entire project must be accepted by at least (2/3) of the number of members of parliament who are 111 members, and in order to be ratified by the members of parliament.
The draft constitution ratified by parliament must be printed in Kurdish, Arab , Turkmen, Armenian and Syriac languages and distribute it.
To determine the day of the referendum , Article 7 of the law indicate that the presidency of the region and parliament in coordination with the relevant parties must determine the day of the referendum that does not exceed 30 days and voting on it by yes or no on the project and will be ratified if got a majority in the referendum.
The law consists of 11 articles.
The political blocs in Kurdistan Parliament began last week the formation of this committee as two seats have been given for the Turkmen and Christian but did not reach an agreement until now to distribute the other seats
