Hakim Meets UN Mission’s Head In Baghdad

The head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Ammar al-Hakim confirmed his rejection to countries and organizations to deal with Iraq on the basis of components.
A statement of the Supreme Council quoted al-Hakim as saying, during a meeting with Jan Kubiš, the representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations: “dealing with Iraq must be done through its elected government, which represents all the components of the Iraqi people.”
The statement added: “The Supreme Council in process of preparing a paper that will be shown to the political forces, keep all the demands of the all political forces and Iraqi people and to meet their aspirations.” ..
For his part, Kubiš said: “The United Nations will do all it can to support the aspirations of the Iraqi people and achieve its national interests.”
The two sides discussed, during the meeting, the files relating to developments in the security situation and assess the overall political landscape, as well as the subject of displaced and the national reconciliation. / End
