KRG Oil Exports Reaches 650,000 Barrels Per Day Turkish Energy Minister sets target of 1 million bpd

The Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz has revealed that oil exports from the Kurdistan Region and Kirkuk, using the pipeline to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, have reached 650,000 barrels per day (bpd). Recently available loading data showed exports at 450,000 bpd earlier this year, still some way short of the 550,000 bpd average that was agreed to be sold through the State Oil Marketing Organisation (SOMO) in the December Erbil – Baghdad talks
In order to get closer to the average, exports are likely to rise significantly, with Yildiz outlining the increase over the last year, and projections for the rest of 2015. “In March last year some 2,300 bpd of crude oil had been coming to Turkey from northern Iraq. Now it has reached 650,000 bpd. This level is a significant portion of Iraq’s total daily exports of 2.7 million barrels. Our target is to exceed one million barrels.” The pipeline went offline for some months in 2014 as it was attacked by Islamic State militants
