Twilight News / Search Planning Minister Salman Jumaili in his office at the ministry, on Monday, with local development project manager of the development program of the United Nations development program Isabel Uribe, mechanisms of implementation of local development project in the second phase at a cost of 12 million euros financed by the European Union.
According to a statement of the ministry responded to Twilight News, he said al-Jumaili said during the meeting that this program represents the importance for Iraq to being aimed at strengthening public policies and the provision of services and the development of planning and implementation process at the provincial level.
He noted that the program would increase the coordination between the central government and local governments in the provinces and increase community participation in local development in order to achieve good governance at the level of Iraq.
He added that the objectives of this project to prepare sectoral strategies spatial and provide support to the institutions at the local level and the planning and implementation of improvements in the services that are in line with the priorities of local development needs type, indicating that the project will focus in the current phase on some provinces depending on development priorities and needs, including the liberated areas.
The ministry statement also announced that the meeting also dealt with to explain details of the project and its implementation mechanisms, explaining that this requires the formation of a number of committees and task forces his administration be shared by the advisers and the Ministry of Planning and the European Union with the possibility of the use of any ministry or on the other hand, according to business requirements.
The statement added that the project aims in its second phase to the development of local capacity to prepare local and urban strategies and the adoption of the principle of education through labor, as well as the development of distribution services and determine the priorities and needs in urban and rural areas and in alignment with the National Development Strategy and the Millennium Development Objectives.
The statement noted that the preparation of these plans will be for all the provinces, including the provinces of Kurdistan Region for 10 or 15 years in addition to the spatial distribution of GDP for the provinces study.
The statement stressed that international responsible Isabel Uribe expressed its part, the desire of UNDP United Nations to speed up the implementation of this important program, indicating that it will be through the preparation of background schemes urban transport and make appropriate proposals to improve transport checks and to achieve sustainable development in the Iraqi provinces.
The statement continued that Olabi also pointed out that the program allows the possibility of cooperation with Iraqi universities for the development of local capacity and support academic institutions in the field of sustainable urban development in cooperation with well-known universities in the world, pointing out that he will choose a competent university urban and regional planning.
The statement noted that the meeting was attended by Director of the International Cooperation in beautiful lights and general manager of regional and local development Mohammed Mohsen Sayed.
