Environment Minister Qutaiba al-Jubouri warned of environmental disaster threatening the marshlands after the deaths of large numbers of fish resources and the animal because of the scarcity of water buffalo.

The Minister of Environment that "the lack of water releases and increase the proportion of salinization led to significant mortality numbers of fish stocks and the loss of animal, especially buffalo wealth," stressing that "the suffering faced by the residents of the marshes Athert directly on the environmental, health and humanitarian level."
Jubouri said that "dozens of villages in the marshlands endangered as a result of the drought that pays Bassaknyha to flee after the destruction of their livestock and drought and water on which they depend for their livelihoods and their catch."
It is said that the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi had ordered to form a crisis on drought, headed by Central marshes and the Ministry of Environment and cell comprising the relevant ministries and members of local governments in the provinces concerned.
The Minister of Environment announced the preparation of the private National Profile to include the Iraqi marshes within the list of human heritage as it represents the humid areas of great importance in biodiversity and Albaia.anthy
