Al-Abadi meets the Russian company management

Basra / Nina / Confirmed An informed source said on Tuesday that the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi met upon his arrival this afternoon to Basra with the Russian company LUKOIL investing in the West Qurna 2 field north of the province and held a meeting with management, without disclosing the details of the meeting.
The source told the National Iraqi News Agency / Nina / that Abadi will then head to the Operation Command headquarters to meet with members of the local government in an emergency meeting to discuss the overall situation of the province, likely to be one of the reasons of the Prime Minister’s visit to Basra is to give assurances for oil companies operating in Basra after a wave of popular protests and demonstrations against them.
Head of the oil committee in the Basra Council Ali Shaddad al-Faris had warned earlier that foreign oil companies looms to leave work and leave the province as a result of the current situation experienced by the sit-ins and demonstrations took all the gates and streets leading to the oil fields. / End
