Jordan will participate in Middle East quartet meeting late September
New York, Sep.5 (Petra)--The Quartet of Middle East mediators will meet September 30 with the participation of Arab Foreign ministers including Jordan, a statement by the United Nations (UN) said on Saturday.
The meeting will be held to discuss progress in reaching a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, the statement added .
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has invited Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia to join the meeting which aims at seeking a diplomatic solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The foreign ministers of the three Arab countries will join their counterparts from Russia, the United States and EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, for the talks on September 30.
The Quartet on the Middle East or sometimes called the Diplomatic Quartet, was established in 2002 in Madrid with the aim to mediate the peace process in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is consisted of the United Nations, the United States, the European Union, and Russia.
