House of Representatives is considering passing a law regulating the work of security companies that are widely active in Baghdad and Basra for the protection of political figures and the headquarters of the party as well as secure the embassies and diplomatic missions and foreign companies.
The MP Nayef al-Shammari, a member of the Parliamentary Commission on Security and Defense, said that "private security companies law will organize the work of companies within the powers allowed."
He said al-Shammari, said in an interview with the (range), that "Baghdad is the capital of the province where the highest security companies are active due to the presence of officials and political figures, followed by the province of Basra by virtue of the presence of international oil companies operating there."
He said the parliamentary security committee member, said "The Interior Ministry is the entity which owns the minute statistical numbers of these companies because they are the government body responsible for the management of this file."
