Met with President of the Republic Fuad Masum, in the Peace Palace in Baghdad on Thursday afternoon 08.10.2015 Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mr. Jan Kubiš, and discussed with him the developments in the national reconciliation project and preparations for the reconstruction of Iraq proposed to be held soon, as well as the United Nations Mission Projects to help Iraq (UNAMI) for the next phase. At the outset of the meeting, Mr. Kubiš highlighted his recent visit to New York and attending a UN Security Council debate on Iraq, expressing his satisfaction with the willingness of the international community to support
Iraq in its war against al Daash and interest in the file of the displaced and provide humanitarian aid. The President of the Republic on the importance of meeting the demands of citizens reforms aiming to uphold the principle of citizenship and active participation in the rebuilding of state institutions on a professional basis and strategy that takes into account to ensure the future of young generations, praising the international support for Iraq in its direction towards reforming its institutions. He expressed confidence in the successful sovereignty for the three presidencies in the formation of the Preparatory Committee for the national reconciliation project soon, stressing the need that this committee includes Iraqi national figures known for objectivity and impartiality and expertise, and to be the United Nations a vital contribution to it.
With regard to the Conference of the reconstruction of Iraq, the president emphasized the start of communications and preparations for the event, calling on the nations of the world to contribute to its success.
For his part, Jan Kubiš expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved by Iraq in the areas of the quest to complete the national reconciliation conference and the reconstruction of Iraq, expressing his readiness international organization to provide the required support, praising the efforts of President infallible tireless efforts to accomplish these goals.
