Closure of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption

Conference of the States Parties ended in the United Nations Convention against Corruption in its Russian city of St. Petersburg, where he stressed the strong relationship between the achievement of sustainable development for all and the fight against corruption and bribery.
The Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Yuri Fedotov, in remarks at the conclusion of the conference, it must be seen to this Conference in the broader context of the goals of sustainable development, pointing out that what has been achieved is to establish partnerships close to the goal XVI of the Convention, especially With regard to the elimination of corruption and bribery, and the United Nations Convention against Corruption decisions.
It also explained that the application of these decisions will be in the framework of supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals, pointing out that the Conference took important decisions regarding the establishment of procedures and patterns for the second session concerning the review of the treaty, and the establishment of strong partnerships between the private and public sectors to support small island developing States, and the development of academic initiatives to fight corruption through education.
It is noteworthy that the United Nations Convention against Corruption is one of the few agreements that are subject to follow-up mechanism
