The Ministry of Communications confirmed, on Sunday, that the start of the optical cable project is subject to security approvals.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Communications, Raad al-Mashhadani, told the Iraqi News Agency, which was followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the optical cable project, which can accommodate 150 thousand lines in Baghdad, has been referred," indicating that
"the project is in the process of obtaining security approvals for the purpose of direct work, and this project is part of the Japanese loan.""
He added that "there is another project, the 16 governorates project, which is in the process of study and final analyzes, and it will be referred to the specialized companies, which will provide three million lines in Iraq," noting that
"it includes 16 Iraqi provinces except for the provinces of the Kurdistan region."
Al-Mashhadani pointed out that "the national project (Wi-Fi), which was announced a few days ago, began work in Baghdad in the Zayouna area, and it was well received by citizens in Baghdad, and it will expand by the end of this year to the rest of the provinces," stressing that
"all these important projects will improve From the current Internet reality in Iraq."
