Water Resources reveals details of a memorandum of understanding with Turkey concerning the Tigris and Euphrates

On Sunday, the Ministry of Water Resources revealed new details regarding a memorandum of understanding with Turkey regarding the waters of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
A ministry statement quoted the Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, as saying that his "recent visit to Turkey resulted in the Turkish President's ratification of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries,
which Al-Kazemi's government succeeded in activating,
which includes the commitment of neighboring Turkey to release fair and equitable waters for Iraq to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers."
According to the statement, Al-Hamdani thanked the Turkish President's Special Envoy for Water Affairs, Faisal Oroglu, for responding quickly to Iraq's request to activate the memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
Years ago, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of water that includes 12 articles,
most notably stressing the importance of cooperation in the management of water resources of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, determining each country's water share in the waters of the two rivers,
and emphasizing the importance of evaluating water resources.
