The electronic communication team discussed with representatives of government banks and electronic payment companies the issuance of cards to students.
A statement by the electronic communication team received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated,
“The electronic communication team held a joint meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office with representatives of government banks and a number of electronic payment companies for the purpose of developing mechanisms for issuing electronic payment cards to students starting from the primary stages up to the university.”
This is to educate people on its use in purchasing operations and paying financial dues.” He added,
"The meeting agreed to study the proposals for mechanisms that were put forward during the meeting held today, Wednesday, provided that they will be discussed and approved in the next meeting, which is hoped to be held next week, and then the final report will be submitted to the Prime Minister to take the necessary action regarding it."
It is noteworthy that the shift towards electronic payment represents a priority in the government program and falls within the framework of combating corruption and reforming the monetary process in the country.
