The Iraqi-Chinese Business Council seeks to open a branch of the Chinese Bank in Iraq,
pointing out that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached 54 billion dollars during the past year.
Council President Haider Al-Rubaie explained to “Al-Sabah” that
“Iraq is China’s third partner in trade exchange, which reached 54 billion dollars over the past year, and
these numbers are increasing after the Central Bank opened commercial transfers to the Iraqi private sector in the “remembe” currency for importers and merchants and their commercial exchanges. He added,
"The value of Iraqi oil sales to China increased from 100,000 to 150,000 barrels through the agreement concluded between the two parties."
Al-Rubaie pointed to the increase in "the number of Chinese companies operating in Iraq implementing economic projects in oil, railways, roads and housing, as well as the entry of the Chinese private sector into Iraq that will help increase the value of trade exchange between the two countries," indicating that
Baghdad is looking forward to obtaining international commercial agencies from the Chinese market, which
It is the first in the world with the establishment of new factories to develop agriculture and green production by entering the field of solar energy, which is considered one of the most promising projects in China.” He added,
“The Friendship Society established the Iraqi-Chinese Labor Council, which sponsors commercial relations between the two countries by organizing contracts, selecting companies, and classifying members from Merchants, and serving the Iraqi working sector,” explaining that
“the Chinese government launched, through the Chinese Bank, the opening of partnerships between banks through the application (Visa Card, eBay, and WeChat), as an Iraqi working with China can activate his card through an application launched by the embassy through the Central Bank.”
To enter and use cards remotely, the Iraqi importer or merchant can pay amounts through Visa and link his bank account to Iraqi banks, in addition to the association’s efforts to open new outlets for banks and establish the Chinese Bank in Iraq, to help transfer money from China to Iraq, establish industrial cities, and organize Exhibitions and conferences that help the private sector.
