Baquba (NINA) – A high level Parliamentary delegation arrived on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 14, in Diyala province to discuss security situation in response to declaring the province a region.
Spokesman for Diyala province, Turath al-Azzawi, told NINA that a Parliamentary delegation headed by Chairman of Parliament’s Security and Defence Committee, Hassan al-Sinaid, accompanied by law makers, Abdullah al-Jobouri, from Iraqiya Slate, Hussein Hamham, Rukaya al-Timimi and Hakim al-Zamily, from Ahrar bloc, and Ammar Tomah, from Fadheela bloc, has arrived in the province on Wednesday afternoon.
He added, “The delegation will hold meetings with the province’s security commanders, with the presence of Army Commander, General Ali Ghaidan, to discuss armed forces’ readiness in countering security violations that took place during Tuesday’s demonstration in response to declaring the province an administrative and economic region.”
Earlier in the day, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Qusay al-Sihail, announced the Parliament has decided sending a high level Parliamentary delegation to Diyala, to treat the crisis erupted in response to declaring the province an administrative and economic region.
In a joint press conference with law makers representing Diyala province and members of Parliament’s Security and Defence Committee, Sihail said, “Parliament’s Chairmanship decided to send a high level Parliamentary delegation consisting of law makers representing Diyala province and members of Parliament’s Security and Defence Committee to work out the crisis.”
He pointed out that Parliament will continue discussion with all sides in Diyala province toward reaching acceptable solutions. / End.
